Whether you’re coming to see Jack & the Beanstalk or back from seeing the show – keep the magic alive with these fun activities!

Jack & the Beanstalk – crafty ideas:
Make a beanstalk card – fold a piece of card, stick on a stalk (simple strip of green paper or a toilet roll for a 3D effect), and attach to the card. Add some green leaves (you could make these from fingerprints for extra craft), add cotton wool clouds and cut out a castle for the sky.

Create a giant beanstalk - draw a spiral shape on green paper, sprinkle with glitter and cut out as many as you can. Cut out leaves and attach to the curvey spiral beanstalks. Hang from the ceiling or door frame. You’ve created your very own giant beanstalk

Paint story stones and re tell the story - find some small stones from your garden or the beach and paint a beanstalk, magic beans, giant, Jack and a cow and retell the story together.

Face painting & dress up session:
We all love to dress up - maybe you’ve got a brave Jack, a Silly Simon or punch-packing princess. Dig out some costumes, set up a face painting station for hours of fun…but will anyone be brave enough to dress up as outrageous Dame Trott?!

Put on your own play:
If you’ve got budding stage stars why not put on your own version of Jack & the Beanstalk? Whether you go all out and put a script together or take turns trying out different characters it will be lots of fun. If you’re feeling particularly ambitious you could even build a cardboard boxes set!

Classic story time:
Read Jack & the Beanstalk cuddled up under the duvet. Point out the differences, talk about the fun you had and characters you saw – who was your favourite? If your little ones enjoy audiobooks, you could even download the story for them to listen to at bedtime.

If this has whetted your appetite for seeing a pantomime this year, why not book your tickets to watch Jack and the Beanstalk at the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, starring Calum Lill from Coronation Street as villainous Fleshcreep, David Ribi from Channel 5’s Milkshake! as Jack and, back despite popular demand (!), Noel Brodie as Silly Simon.

Jack and the Beanstalk, a UK Productions Ltd production, will run at Bournemouth Pavilion from Saturday 7 December 2024 – Sunday 5 January 2025. Tickets and more information are available here. School and group rates available, please email schools@bhlive.org.uk.
