News Story
LOL Comedy Club returns to the Pavilion Ballroom this July with another great line-up of comedians! Join us on Friday 24 January for a fantastic night of comedy from Paul F Taylor, Steve Williams, Alex Mitchell and Ben Briggs (MC). Click here to book tickets.
The award-winning Paul F Taylor is one of the country’s most exciting and unique comedians. His own style of humour blends quirky one-liners with surreal observational flights of fancy to fantastical effect.
“Relentlessly daft absurdism” The List
“An enticing, dizzying prospect, who whips through a welter of daft, Harry Hill-like ideas and diversions and chucks characters around with the agility of the Pajama Men.” The Independent
There's no-one quite like him on the UK comedy scene today and few to compare internationally too and this is a rare chance to see him in Bournemouth outside of his national tour.
You may have seen Paul on...
- Reasons To Be Cheerful with Matt Lucas (Channel 4)
- Harry Hill's Club Nite (Channel 4)
- Soccer A.M. (Sky Sports)
Steve Williams is more topical than the news! His Welsh genes allow him to have a totally different aspect on life although he hasn’t lost any of the traditional Welsh values, and he never fails to surprise and engage audiences with his hybrid of bizarre stories, larger than life physicality, spontaneous improvisation and skewed view of everyday life.
"One of the UK’s finest comedians" - Metro
"Will leave you wanting more, the sign of a good comedian" - Comedy Central
He has supported Lee Mack on tour, appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and was nominated for a prestigious Chortle Award. Steve is rarely in Bournemouth and, outside of his TV work and national tour, this is gold plated rare chance to see him live.
You may have seen Steve on...
- Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1)
- Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three)
- A Gert Lush Christmas (BBC2)
- The Comedy Store (Paramount Comedy Channel)
- Edinburgh and Beyond (Paramount Comedy Channel)
- Plus has written for every series of Russell Howard’s Good News since it's launch in 2009
Britain's Got Talent (ITV) 2024 finalist, Alex Mitchell, also joins the line-up. Following his time on the show, all three of his BGT performances have individually amassed tens of thousands of views online, and he has since appeared on Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and Heart Radio Breakfast.
“Accomplished and intelligent” - Neurodiverse Review
“A natural, friendly energy” - Chortle
“Funny and Fearless” - Simon Cowell
Using self-deprecating humour and observational material to create a hilarious but heart-warming atmosphere wherever he performs, he laughs at himself, his neurodivergence, disability and sexuality to reflect on some of the most difficult subjects within his own life and wider society.
In the summer, Alex appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time, with his debut show ‘Tics Towards Puffection’ which received critical acclaim. Don't miss your chance to see this in demand comic in Bournemouth before he embarks on his debut tour this year.
Ben Briggs is your host and MC for the evening. Likable, honest, razor sharp and at times dark but always very, very funny, Ben has appeared at the Leicester, Nottingham, Birmingham and Edinburgh Comedy festivals wowing all kinds of crowds in the process.
‘Inherently appealing style’ Chortle.co.uk
‘Laugh packed material’ – one4 review
‘Briggs got huge laughs’ – Notts Comedy Review
