This week, Chicago took the stage at Bournemouth Pavilion, delivering an unforgettable mix of glitz, glamour and scandal!
As the longest-running American musical in both Broadway and West End history, Chicago has been captivating audiences since its debut in 1975.
Set against the extravagant backdrop of the 1920s, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover when he threatens to leave her. In a desperate bid to avoid conviction, she manipulates the media, the public, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring the slickest criminal lawyer in Chicago. Together, they turn her murderous crime into a sensational media circus, full of headlines that could easily be plucked from today's tabloids.
The performance was made even more spectacular by Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara (from It Takes Two, Burn The Floor, Glee) as Roxie Hart, alongside international recording artist and pop star Sinitta as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton. Their spine-tingling vocals had the audience on the edge of their seats.
We were thrilled to host local press for an evening filled with 1920s glamour, complete with feather boas, themed cakes, and drinks. The reviews were unanimous!
